In Utah we unfortunately have really cold weather for almost 6 months of the year. Studio Maternity Pictures are a great option for people not wanting to risk the bad weather. For people who don’t love the cold, have done snow pictures before, or just don’t want to fight against Mother Nature and her unpredictability; studio maternity pictures are a great option.

When you choose to take pictures outside in the winter there are a lot more moving parts to get to work together, so some people just don’t want to take pictures outside. The benefits of studio maternity pictures include a location not affected by the weather, coziness and a focus on the couple.
Not Effected By Weather
The most obvious benefit that you get from doing your maternity pictures in a studio is that your session will not be affected by the weather. Very occasionally it gets dark enough during a storm that you might have to adjust the timing of the shoot, but you shouldn’t ever need to cancel.
Cozy
This one isn’t as obvious as the last benefit, but shooting your maternity pictures in a studio allows the session to be very cozy. You can’t really snuggle up next to your partner on a mountain top of snow, but in a studio you can use furniture like a chair, couch, or even a bed to make this session seem like it was shot inside the comfort of your home. In these pictures you can tell how comfortable everyone is because we aren’t fighting the weather outside. The couch allows the couple to get closer together.
Focus Is On The Couple or Family
Another benefit of studio maternity pictures is that the focus is on the couple of family. When you’re shooting inside, most of your pictures are going to be closer together and the background will be very neutral. From an artistic perspective this allows the focus to be more about the people in photos, which is what really matters. It also allows you to go bolder with your outfits which would change the vibe to fit your personality more based on what you choose.
