The Staker family is one of my favorite groups of people. They are seriously the absolute best. I was so happy to take these Saltair Extended Family Photos nearly 13 years after meeting this family. I met the Staker family when I was in High School at a National Skills USA competition.
The trip was in Kansas City, and for this small town girl, it was a HUGE city. I had never even flown on an airplane before this trip. I had people from my school that were traveling with me, but I didn’t know any of them. I was pretty much all by myself. They had a big group of students that all knew each other and they invited me to hangout with them.
If I remember right, both Corbin and Nate were competing in the competition. Corbin was competing at the college level. Nate was competing at the high school level. They took me under their wings and took care of me the whole trip. I tagged along when they went to dinner and even went to an amusement park with them when we had a free day. It was so fun because both Corbin and Nate’s girlfriends at the time surprised them on the trip. They showed up at the amusement park and it was one of the cutest moments. It’s so fun that both of them married those girls and now, almost 13 years later, I am photographing their extended family.
Saltair Extended Family Photos are beautiful because of the large neutral background. There are a few things you need to know when shooting at The Great Saltair. Sometimes photographers show up and they can’t use the space. Here are my tips for shooting at The Great Saltair.
Saltair extended family photos are a lot work, but they will be much easier with these tips and preparing ahead of time!
This sweet great grandkid portrait is one of my very favorite portraits to take during an extended family session. I grew up with two great grandma’s so it’s extra special to photograph 4 generations. Look at all those tiny kids looking at the camera. I wish I had a picture like this with my granny and cousins.
Another portrait I never forget during extended family sessions is a couple portrait or headshot. These couple portraits and individual portraits of each child and grandchild makes it so that each extended family session feels like a mini session for the larger families. I always want my clients to get the most bang for their buck.
